Get to Know Station 56
Station 56 is home to the Indian Harbour Beach Fire Department and serves as the heart of our community’s fire and emergency response operations.
Located at 1116 Pine Tree Drive, Station 56 is where our firefighters train, maintain equipment, prepare for emergencies, and respond to calls throughout Indian Harbour Beach.
Our department responds to much more than fires. IHBFD personnel respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle crashes, structure fires, water rescues, hazardous conditions, alarms, and many other calls for assistance.
From a Volunteer Tradition to a Hybrid Fire Department
For generations, volunteer firefighters have been at the heart of the Indian Harbour Beach Fire Department. Men and women from our community have given their time, completed extensive training, and answered the call when their neighbors needed help.
Today, IHBFD is building upon that proud tradition as we transition from a fully volunteer department to a hybrid fire department, bringing career firefighters and dedicated volunteer members together as one team.
What Does “Hybrid” Mean?
The transition to a hybrid model does not mean replacing our volunteers. Instead, it combines full-time career staffing with the continued service and commitment of our volunteer firefighters.
Career firefighters provide dedicated staffing at the station, while volunteers continue to play an important role in emergency response, training, and the department’s connection to our community.
This model strengthens our ability to provide consistent emergency response while preserving the spirit of volunteer service that has been an important part of IHBFD for decades.

More Than a Fire Station
Station 56 is where preparation happens long before an emergency call comes in.
Our firefighters regularly train for fire, rescue, and medical emergencies; inspect and maintain emergency vehicles and equipment; participate in regional and multi-agency training; provide fire prevention and safety education; support community events; and prepare for hurricanes and other emergencies.
It is also a place where we want our residents to feel welcome and connected to the people who serve them.
