PROJECT S.A.F.E. SMOKE ALARMS FOR ESCAPE

A home fire impacts the life of an American every 87 seconds. The simple act of having a working smoke alarm in the home can double a family’s chances of surviving a fire. On average, nearly three children die each day in home fires.

Overall, roughly eighty percent of home fire deaths in this country occur in homes without working smoke alarms.

Approximately two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms. Since most fatal fires occur at night, it is essential that every home has working smoke alarms to provide an early warning.

Indian Harbour Beach Fire Department’s PROJECT S.A.F.E (Smoke Alarms for Escape) program offers smoke alarms and their installation to owner-occupied homes within the City of Indian Harbour Beach.

The smoke alarms are free for those who cannot afford them.

For those who can afford it, smoke alarms are available for purchase for $15.00, payable to the Indian Harbour Beach Volunteer Fire Dept, INC or IHBVFD INC.

This program was made available through a partnership with Lowe's, where a limited number of new smoke alarms were provided to the Indian Harbour Beach Firefighters’ Outreach at a reduced cost.
