THANK YOU GEORGE

At the regular City Council meeting of March 8, 2011, Mayor Gene Newberry recognized the City’s long-time resident city engineer, George Siebern (of Allen Engineering) for his unequaled fifty years of service to Indian Harbour Beach!  He presented George with a ceremonial key to the city and a framed proclamation outlining the myriad of things George has accomplished on behalf of the City over the past fifty years, including:  that he has most probably walked every square foot of the city in preparing all paving and drainage plans, grants for city buildings, dune crossovers and parks, checking plans for residential and commercial developments; that our roads and drainage systems are recognized as among the best in the County; and through it all, he has remained the same “truly honest, highly intelligent, ever-pleasant, well-mannered gentleman we have been honored to know and call our colleague and friend!”

The Mayor proclaimed the week of March 13-20  George Siebern Week  in Indian Harbour Beach and encouraged “all who live and work here to look around at our beautiful City and realize the behind-the-scenes work that George Siebern has accomplished on our behalf over these past long fifty years!”  George was visibly moved by the presentation and the standing ovation given him by the City Council and those in attendance, including many employees who turned out to honor him and offer their heartfelt thanks.
