PROCTECT OUR INDIAN RIVER LAGOON

The City of Indian Harbour Beach realizes the importance of reminding its residents that each and every resident has a stake in the health of the Indian River Lagoon. Everything that goes into the storm drains eventually ends up in the lagoon.  It is essential that all residents do their part to ensure that grass clippings, pesticides, oil, toxic solutions and other foreign matter be kept out of the storm drains.

A comprehensive recycling and environmentally sound guide for disposal and reuse of unwanted items can be found by logging on to: www.brevardcounty.us/swr . Click on the Recycling tab at the top left and then choose either Recycling Directory or Reuse Directory.  Bookmark this site for future reference.

PEPPER TREE REMOVAL

Long-time Florida resident John Baker is still actively volunteering to remove the non-native Brazilian Pepper tree at no cost to residents.  This noxious species also referred to as Florida holly because the trees have red berries in January and February is a non-native exotic plant that squeezes out native vegetation.  To eradicate the Brazilian Pepper tree it is important to spray the stump with herbicide immediately after cutting. Mr. Baker will do the cutting and herbicide application and requests the assistance of the property owner to haul the cuttings to the curb or containerize them for pickup by Waste Management.  Mr. Baker is ready, willing and able to help you with pepper tree removal. Give him a call today at 777-0996.
