DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES

The Indian Harbour Beach Department of Community Services office and recreation complex is located in beautiful 27-acre Gleason Park on the corner of South Patrick Drive and Yacht Club Boulevard. The Department of Community Services offers a wide variety of classes, services and activities, ranging from those for toddlers and preschoolers, to a Senior Leisure-time Club, and something for everyone in between. Also located in the park is the City’s heated competition-size swimming pool – open seven days a week year-round, beach volleyball, horseshoes, shuffleboard courts, two playgrounds, a walking/exercise trail and picnic facilities.

The million-dollar Algonquin Sports Complex located off Wimico Drive is home to senior baseball, major Little League, softball and soccer fields serving multiple age groups. Other city ball fields are located next to Ocean Breeze School and serve minor Little League teams as well as T-ball participants.

Some of the special activities offered through our Department of Community Services include the annual Art, Crafts, Antiques and Collectibles Show held in mid-November, the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast With The Easter Bunny, and numerous pool parties for families and children held in conjunction with holiday weekends. The City’s premier event is our annual Christmas In The Park celebration, featuring lighting of our beautiful tree on the lake, caroling, children’s shows and a visit by Santa who is transported via fire truck to meet with all the youngsters or young at heart.

The recreation center office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The center complex has rooms that can be rented for various functions. The main hall, with a maximum capacity of 250 people, is ideal for wedding receptions and parties; and smaller meeting rooms are also available. If the staff may be of any assistance or if there are certain programs you would like to see implemented, please call them. The phone number is (321) 773-0552.
